Most of the existing solutions support mobile communications in either link layer, IP layer or TCP layer. Our two-step solution employs di erent way: the portability is supported in IP layer and mobility in socket layer, which has better system performance. A performance study is given in this paper.

I-TCP: Indirect TCP for Mobile Hosts
IP-based solutions to accommodate mobile hosts within existing internetworks do not address the distinctive features of wireless mobile computing. IP-based transport protocols thus suffer from poor performance when a mobile host communicates with a host on the fixed network. This is caused by frequent disruptions in network layer connectivity due to — i) mobility and ii) unreliable nature of th...

Blind channel identification and the eigenvalue problem of structured matrices. July 1997. Abstract In the current TCP/IP-based systems, the hardness of mobile communication stems from the IP routing and addressing schemes. In this paper, we reene our mobile solution...
متن کاملFreeze-TCP: A True End-to-End TCP Enhancement Mechanism for Mobile Environments
Optimizing TCP (Transport Layer) for mobility has been researched extensively. We present a brief summary of existing results which indicates that most schemes require intermediaries (such as base stations) to monitor the TCP traffic and actively participate in flow control in order to enhance performance. Although these methods simulate end-to-end semantics, they do not comprise true end-to-en...
متن کاملArchitecture of a Web Accelerator For Wireless Networks
With the continuous growth of mobile users and web-based wireless applications, the performance of accessing web services via wireless is becoming one of the key issues. Regular TCP has many problems to tackle wireless connections. Especially for 2.5G or 3G mobile users, the bandwidth is always limited to access various IP applications. In this paper, we describe the design, implementation and ...
متن کاملDynamic Mobile IP and Nice-TCP for Improving TCP/IP Performance
1 This research was based on work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. IIS 19979453. Abstract Mobile IP is an Internet protocol designed to support host mobility. It provides the host the ability to stay connected to the Internet regardless of its location. This paper presents a modified Mobile IP protocol, (Dynamic Mobile (IP-DM-IP)). DM-IP eliminates triangular routing...
